March Break

A mid trip update.

I'ts 8pm and it feels like 10pm. It's pitch black out and it was pitch black out at 6am when we awoke. The kids have been sleeping for almost 2 hours now. It's been a long day of driving for Ja, of being hot and patient for me, of no napping for Jeremy and of waiting in lines for Courtney. Still, it's been a great day. We are about mid way through our trip to Anna Maria Island in Florida. The weather has been beautiful, the views breathtaking and refreshing, the crowds minimal with exception of on the roads, but I think that's just because it's Florida and practically everyone is retired, so why rush? or drive faster than 30mph! We spent much of today in Orlando. A surprise trip for the kids to Island Adventures at Universal Studios Theme Parks. We were in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and it was a blast. Seems like Island Adventures is geared a bit more for an older crowd, out for thrills and merchandise shopping. Still, we took a few rides, pretty much anything that our kids were tall enough for and had a wait time of less than 15 minutes. After getting a time entry ticket to Harry Potter world, we played in Dr. Seuss world. Turns out, Jeremy likes the rides...well not the spinny ones or the dark scary ones. Once we got into the wizarding world, the rest was a bit of a blur. Lines, excitement, people, cool buildings, more crowds. I have to say though that this is one of the few places were there were plenty of washrooms and people moved quickly through them. Might be because there weren't too many little wee kiddies - they were probably at Disneyworld. It was a bit of a disappointment to not be able to go on the ride that takes you into Hogwarts, but a combination of the 2+ hour wait plus Courtney might not have been tall enough and gutsy, meant that it would be a next time thing to do. Jeremy was great, hanging around and waiting.

Some pics from previous days. Taking it easy, enjoying the good weather and each other's company. Spotting dolphins in the bay, making lots of noise chasing birds, and sunsets.

Tomorrow is another easy day. A bit of driving as we drive up the coast to check out Spring Training with the Toronto Blue Jays.
